G‘affor Hotamov worked in newspaper editorial offices, magazine editorial offices, and held the position of editor-in-chief of a newspaper; he wrote stories, novellas, essays, and novels. He was awarded the prize of the Uzbekistan Youth Organization for his essays. His works have been translated into several foreign languages.
Biography
G‘affor Hotamov was born on April 25, 1953, in the village of Gujbog in the Navbahor district of the Navoiy region into a peasant family.
In 1974, he graduated from the Faculty of Philology of the Tashkent State Pedagogical Institute.
He began his professional career in the editorial office of the republican children's newspaper. He served in the editorial offices of «Toshkent Oqshomi» («Tashkent Evening») and «O‘zbekiston Ovozi» («Voice of Uzbekistan») newspapers, the «Yoshlik» («Youth») journal, and the G‘afur G‘ulom Literature and Art Publishing House.
Later, he worked as the editor-in-chief of the «Yoshlik» journal and the «Turkiston» newspaper.
G‘affor Hotamov's first story, «Tong va Shom» («Dawn and Dusk»), was published in the «Guliston» journal in 1976, and his first collection of stories, entitled «Xat Tashuvchi Bola» («The Delivery Boy»), was published in 1978.
Career
In 1980, G‘affor Hotamov's novellas «Qaytish» («The Return»), in 1985 «Quduq Tepasidagi Oy» («The Moon Over the Well»), in 1998 «Azal va Abad» («Beginning and Eternity»), and in 1990 «Tohir va Zuhraning Kulmagan Baxti» («The Unsmiling Happiness of Tohir and Zuhra») were published in the «Yoshlik» journal.
The writer's stories, novellas, and essays have been published in book form in recent years under the titles «Kuntug‘mishning Kulmagan Baxti» («The Unsmiling Happiness of Kuntug‘mish»), «Birinchi Muhabbat Qissasi» («The Story of First Love»), and «Kecha va Bugunning Saboqlari» («Lessons of Yesterday and Today»).
In 1977, the author's novel «Yangi Oy Chiqqan Kecha» («The Night the New Moon Rose») was published in the «Yoshlik» journal. At the same time, he also wrote a number of essays.
G‘affor Hotamov was awarded the prize of the Uzbekistan Youth Organization for his novella «Quduq Tepasidagi Oy» («The Moon Over the Well») and his essay «Evrilish» («Transformation»). His works have been translated into several foreign languages.
